(अतीत की बात करते हुए हम कहाँ चूक जाते हैं!)

The most common Mistake made while talking about past is: Using Wrong Tense (अतीत के बारे में बात करते समय की जाने वाली सबसे आम गलती है: गलत Tense का उपयोग करना)

Here are some tips on how not to get confused about tenses while talking about past. (अतीत के बारे में बात करते समय काल के बारे में भ्रमित न होने के कुछ उपाय यहां दिए गए हैं)

Remember Most of the time you talk about past. Only the current moment is present. What "happened" a second ago is also past! (याद रखें कि ज्यादातर समय आप अतीत के बारे में बात करते हैं। केवल वर्तमान क्षण मौजूद है। एक पल पहले "जो हुआ" वह भी बीत चुका है!)

There two types of past -

Distant (months, years ago) दूर (महीने, साल पहले)

Recent/Immediate (days, moments ago) हालिया/तत्काल (दिन, क्षण पहले)

It is also important to understand that you will always talk about kinds of things about past. (यह समझना भी जरूरी है कि आप हमेशा अतीत के बारे में तरह-तरह की बातें करेंगे)

2) Habits, routines, continuous occurrence

Talking about a distant past event, occurrence, fact

1. I did my schooling (मैंने अपनी स्कूली शिक्षा की)
2. It was my graduation day (यह मेरा स्नातक दिवस था)
3. I was a very fat kid in school (मैं स्कूल में बहुत मोटा बच्चा था)
4. I travelled a lot in my first job (मैंने अपनी पहली नौकरी में बहुत यात्रा की)
5. In the 80s, movies were all about rich vs poor (80 के दशक में, फिल्में अमीर बनाम गरीब के बारे में थीं)

Talking about a distant past habit or a routine 

1. I used to go to my Nani's village every summer (मैं हर गर्मियों में अपने नानी के गाँव जाता था)
2. I used to smoke (मैं अक्सर धूम्रपान करता था)
3. Last summer, I used to go to this beautiful restaurant by the seaside quite often. (छली गर्मियों में, मैं समुद्र के किनारे इस खूबसूरत रेस्टोरेंट में अक्सर जाया करता था)

Talking about a recent past habit or routine

1. I have been going to the dentist for the past 6 weeks (मैं पिछले 6 हफ्तों से डेंटिस्ट के पास जा रहा हूं)
2. I have been taking dance classes (मैं डांस क्लास ले रहा हूं)

Talking about the immediate past - event, fact, occurrence

1. Did you know that India won the match (क्या आप जानते हैं कि भारत ने जीता मैच)
2. I got fired today (मुझे आज निकाल दिया गया)
3. I had a great day in office (ऑफिस में मेरा दिन बहुत अच्छा रहा)
